Beautifully renovated to incorporate modern medicine and important history, the AAT station creates a welcoming atmosphere for an overall healing process.
Our expert clinicians care about each person as a whole. AAT allows them to look past medical labels and create a new perspective as they use their skills to truly set hope in motion. We invite you to experience the radical transformation of a new nervous system and a new you.
AUTONOMIC AWARENESS TRAININGTM
“Hope Set in Motion”
Alongside our traditional services offered, Goldwyn & Boyland is pleased to offer AAT for our clients to help in recovery from chronic pain, trauma, concussion, stress, anxiety and depression.
We all have a Autonomic Nervous System, but each “story” is different. When our bodies have experienced any type of trauma, from physical, mental or emotional stressors, our Nervous System remembers. As a result, our Autonomic Nervous System may form unintentional, yet harmful, patterns of protection. These patterns may be better recognized disguised under labels of chronic pain, incontinence, sleep apnea, headaches, diabetes, and much more. The alert Autonomic Nervous System may be preventing the body’s own full healing and recovery.
AAT uses state of the art technology combined with caring and compassionate therapists to create a healing space for you to form new patterns and fully recover from injuries that sometimes lie deeper than flesh and bone.
Kristen Thompson joined the Goldwyn & Boyland team in 2015 upon receiving her Physical Therapist Assistant A.A.S degree from Onondaga Community College. Before pursuing her career in physical therapy, she had many experiences growing up in South Africa. While there, she discovered her passion for helping people of all cultures and backgrounds. Whether it is in the clinic or out in the community, Kristen is a naturally compassionate and helpful person.
Amanda VanVolkinburg joined the Goldwyn and Boyland team in 2017. She graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2008 from SUNY at Buffalo. She has worked in Syracuse for the Centers at St. Camillus in subacute rehab for the past six years. Her interests include reading, yoga, art, movies and hiking with her husband and dog. Amanda has found healing and restoration by using AAT in her own life. She enjoys helping others and is excited to serve the community using the tools of AAT.
Dave Boyland most recently graduated from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, St. Augustine, FL, with a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2006. He has helped patients achieve high level goals as an athletic trainer and physical therapist for over 35 years. AAT has expanded his “toolbox” to provide the same high level outcomes to patients with more complex and life altering conditions.
