PHYSICAL THERAPY IS PARTNERING WITH THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY TO OFFER TELEHALTH SERVICES DURING THIS PRESENT HEALTH CRISIS

An unfortunate result of these changes is that many patients who will experience musculoskeletal pain or injury in this time may not be able to get access to their doctor or urgent care or may choose to avoid these facilities to minimize risk of exposure. At this time our clinic is currently only open to absolutely essential patients in compliance with New York State on Pause and guidelines established by the New York Physical Therapy Association. However, our team has adapted to the changes and is now offering virtual Telehealth visits. Using a secure online platform, telehealth physical therapy allows you to have a remote face-to-face appointment with a licensed Physical Therapist. Similar to an in-clinic appointment, a patient has the opportunity to be fully evaluated, provided with a comprehensive home treatment program and receive follow-up care as needed.

Presently, in New York State, patients can receive Physical Therapy evaluation, treatment, and plan of care for 30 days or up to 10 visits for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions without a doctor’s referral. Most insurances participate in Direct Access except Medicare, Workers Compensation, and No Fault. At Goldwyn & Boyland Physical Therapy we have been effectively seeing patients under the Direct Access Guidelines since 2006. The advantages of Direct Access and Telehealth appointments will allow patients to still receive the care they need for their musculoskeletal pain or injury despite many other barriers during this crisis. As a team we are honored to be a greater resource in partnering with the medical community to continue to assist individuals despite the strain of the present circumstances.

If you or a loved one are interested in Physical Therapy through a telehealth platform or have more questions, please call our office, Goldwyn & Boyland Physical Therapy, at (607) 756-9986 or contact us through our website Goldwynandboylandpt.com. Our entire staff is prepared and ready to be a resource throughout this crisis and beyond.
